Welcome to a creatively evolving yogic form.

Bhava yoga and creative movement, although rooted in Classical Hatha, Raja and Vinyasana form, is a dynamic, balanced, self exploration of the physical, mental and emotional tools with a focus on your conscious awareness of these tools and their use.

The evolving program caters for strength, flexibility, endurance and persistence in practice and aerobic fitness through breathing and creative movement, postures, relaxation and meditation.

As you move through the Blocks and Modules, a gradual awakening of how the body, mind (thoughts) and emotions (feelings) are necessary tools for the consciousness that is the real you, to evolve an understanding of your life path. This path can be both frustrating and elating at times.

In the Balanced Wellbeing classes, there are five separate blocks of modules emphasizing different aspects of synergistic fitness, balance and wellbeing. They are ideal for sports people to increase flexibility, strength, muscle tone and breathing capabilities as well as the prevention and remediation of injuries. Individual tactile therapies are also available for this group. Classes are ideal for the not so sports minded as they help maintain the physical vehicle in which you travel, balancing the endocrine and nervous systems in the process of posture, breathing and relaxation activities. Modified classes can be given for seniors and children of primary school age.

The Five “Balanced Wellbeing” Class Blocks

The five blocks of posture, breathing, relaxation and meditation modules cover all parts of the physical, mental, emotional and conscious awareness aspects of a balanced human being. I take one module from each block, in turn, and each module takes three weeks to complete. This enables participants to cover one module from each block in 15 weeks, giving a basic understanding of the Bhava Yoga journey. There are 12 modules in each block, thus the journey is on-going.

Practice sheets are provided with each module.

  • Block One – Core Posture, Breathing, Relaxation and Meditation

This involves individual postures treated in a continuously flowing manner while connecting all the movements to breath, keeping the mind focused on the activity and looking objectively at the emotional response. This will benefit core strength and tone, flexibility, aerobic fitness and an evolving awareness of the enhanced energy that correct breathing can achieve. A gradual knowledge of the benefit of concentration and meditation will also grow.

  • Block Two – The Remediation of Specific Physical Problems and an Introduction to More Advanced Postures

These modules focus on things like back, neck and hip problems, lack of energy, sleeplessness and ways to alleviate pain, discomfort and remediate problems. An introduction to more advanced postures is also begun in this block. We look at the nature of breathing and how this affects problematic situations along with the benefits of relaxation and meditation to assist in recovery.

  • Block Three – The Interconnection of all Postures into a Single Flow

This block enhances aerobic action, stimulating blood flow, alertness and muscle fitnessnwhile connecting the entire sequence to breath and mental focus.

  • Block Four – Static, Held Postures with Breathing through the Hold

Postures are looked at from an individual static viewpoint in which they are held in position. The body can then be geometrically readjusted where needed. This benefits muscle strength and tone, endurance and musculo/skeletal alignment, essential for free flow of nervous and meridian system energy, leading to endocrine balance.

  • Block Five – Advanced Postures Giving More Focused Attention to Breathing and Meditation Techniques, Creative Dance and Movement, Partnered Yoga and Enhancing Imaginative Visualisation

Here we combine skills from Blocks 1 to 4 and utilise the creative, expressive side of our natures. Adapting to this can, at times, be difficult for some people, therefore a number of choices will be given in the dance and/or partnered sections of the class to allow people to feel more comfortable. The option will be given to do partnered or individual posture work. The creative dance will be connected to the postures already done, to give this section a base. Let go and enjoy!

Once you make it part of your daily life, you will wonder how you did without it!
